Review of AMBROSIA at Arizona Charlie's in Las Vegas, NV - May 17, 1999

It had been a long day, and as a matter of fact, the weekend had been
entirely too busy! And, why couldn't the Ambrosia Concert have been
on a Friday night, I asked myself?!! Vince and I were both pretty
much dragging and to some extent, unenthusiastic -- that is until we
put the Anthology cd into the player and listened to it on the way to
the concert! By the time we arrived at Arizona Charlie's, we were
somewhat pumped!

Dave, Glo & Vince

We took the escalator to the show room, and the minute it got to the
top I had flashbacks of that wonderful group of "Travellers" we met
last year... Cabs, Pamela, Kirk, Shirley, Rex, Suzanne.....well I
could go on but I won't. I could pretty much picture everyone there
and was feeling a little nostalgic, but hey........we were going to
see our boys again!!!

There were only four people already seated at our table, so we got
pretty good seats (first row, right of the stage). We had six other
people in our party, and we were the first to arrive. The really cool
thing about it was that four of the people in our party had NEVER been
to an Ambrosia concert, and two didn't really know anything about
them. Can you imagine?!!!

Bob Mercer & DP

Anyway, we took our seats and the waiting began -- and the
anticipation and excitement was building. The place was filling up
and I kept my eyes peeled for Pamela (Doyle) because I read on the
list that she was considering coming to Vegas for the concert, and
also for the Mercers -- Roberta & Bob -- who had notified me via
e-mail (and telephone) that they were coming. In the meantime, the
rest of our party arrived and we really began to get excited about
the show!

Glo, Joe & Roberta Mercer

Right before the show started I was scanning the crowd and
saw this striking, tall, lean, blonde, and this tall, dark and
handsome man -- YES, it was Roberta & Bob! I began flailing my arms
around like a crazy woman, until I caught their attention! (How could
they miss!)

YES, it IS Bob!

The really neat thing was that their tickets were at the
very next table! We chatted for a while, and suddenly the lights
dimmed and the music began -- here we go...........a wild, exciting,
titillating adventure with none other than the timeless music of
A M B R O S I A!

Chris, Dave, Burleigh & Joe...............timeless

"Kid No More" was the opener, and what an opener it was. It had
EVERYONE in our party movin' and a groovin'! Here's a copy of the
playlist (autographed no less) for y'all to drool over!

Tollak always thrills the crowd

Of course we were NOT going to let those guys get away without an
encore, and so they came back to do "Drink of Water" -- which by the
way I had screamed out as a request during the show! (O.k., so it was
on the playlist! What can I say?........They felt my vibes when they
were planning the show?!!! Yeah, right!)

Ambrosia always leaves the fans in awe & elated

It was an awesome show (and why would it not be, you ask?)
and theboys were out right after the performance to greet their fans! Let me
say at this point how warm and receptive they all were!!! We spoke to
all of them individually except Shem. He was out for a while, but
disappeared before we could get to him. Vince and I told Tollak that
we would be in San Diego for the Aug. 13 show at Humphrey's, and he
said that we must drive to San Juan Capistrano for the show the next
night. So guess what?! You guessed it! WE'RE GOING!!!

Dave & Joe admire Shem's craftsmanship

Here are some pics to sort of make this whole thing come alive for
y'all! Sorry it took so long, but all good things are worth the wait,
and ANYTHING involving Ambrosia is good!!! GO AMBROSIA!!!! Oh, and
by the way......the four people who had never seen Ambrosia.....well
two of them are "hooked" and we're not sure about the other
couple.....they had a great time, but we'll see what happens.
